Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Oskar Huter asked Europe Now Movement MP Miloš Pižurica whether the two tragedies in Cetinje, which occurred in August 2022 and January 2025 and in which 23 people were killed, exposed the system, as he had stated in parliament was the case with the 2006 Bioče train accident.

During the debate on the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Railway Safety and Interoperability, Huter noted that Pižurica had spoken about different standards, that is, about how certain deviations or weaknesses of the previous system had led to tragedies.

- I am interested in whether you apply the same standard when it comes to tragedies that have affected our society after 2020. Did the tragedies in Cetinje expose the security system or any other systemic structure? Please give me an answer so we can see whether your approach is consistent. All tragedies hurt us, but it is important whether some are different and „more equal“ for you, since the parliamentary majority you belong to often speaks about „more equal“ approaches, or people with a more privileged status, when it comes to selective justice - Huter stated.

Pižurica replied that it is a painful topic and that many things need to be re-examined and clarified. He emphasized that he had been speaking about what the European Union brings to Montenegro in terms of political, legal, and economic development.

- I would say that an important aspect is how much the EU will also contribute to raising awareness among the citizens of Montenegro about their quality of life and behavior. I am cautious when speaking about the tragedy that struck Cetinje twice. It is a painful topic, and many things need to be re-examined and determined. I have spoken about this many times, I am not in favor of any mistake, whether in the past or now, being swept under the rug. I do not want to be the MP who, in 20 years, says: „We should have reacted to this“. I have repeatedly called for first examining what ministers and MPs from the Europe Now Movement are doing, and then moving forward. I am always in favor of examining everyone’s responsibility, both in the more distant past and in the more recent period to which this tragedy belongs - Pižurica stated.

Huter again asked Pižurica to give a short answer as to whether the tragedies in Cetinje exposed the system. Pižurica responded that he had clearly answered that everyone’s responsibility should be examined.

- Not like in the case of the Bioče tragedy, where only one train driver was held accountable - Pižurica concluded.
