Musić: A healthy Montenegrin energy exists, but for now it lacks political articulation and implementation

A healthy and beautiful Montenegrin energy exists throughout the country, across all generations. The energy is there and could provide momentum, but for now it lacks political articulation and implementation. People capable of capitalizing on it are still being sought, said Croatian political analyst Aleksandar Musić on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the restoration of Montenegro’s independence.

On that occasion, he published seven thoughts, one of which was that independence at this moment is, as he put it, more or less accepted by everyone, both elites and the masses, while the real battle is being fought over the character and soul of the state.

According to Musić, the government managed to cushion and „handle“ the celebration through a mixture of safe statements, smiles, ignoring uncomfortable issues, and inviting everyone to take part in the celebration.

- They played on the small-minded element, and it proved useful for them - Musić assessed.

He further stated that receptions and flags are not the essence of a state, quite the opposite.

- Andrija Mandić perfectly understands that he can respect the external symbols of an independent state while changing its substance - and even more successfully than if he relied on the elements that had previously caused his downfall. He is doing everything possible to finally close the story of himself as a Trojan horse within the state. As in the case of Montenegro’s European path, insincerely satisfying external expectations means having greater room for maneuver internally - Musić emphasized.

According to him, the minimal level of malice and hatred shown indicates that there is a chance to build a community on healthier foundations.

- The seeds of the connective tissue of society are beginning to appear, and the outlines of the mythical „reconciliation“ are emerging, but not a false and slimy one, rather a healthy and sustainable reconciliation - Musić believes.

He said that the actors of the May 21, 2006 victory, as well as today’s opposition figures, have spent these days deeply elaborating on the past, claiming to possess „all the truths and all the solutions for bygone times“.

- But none of them has said anything realistic about 6/2027. The same recitals, the same phrases, the same categories, all from a time when they had the wind of the West at their backs. For a fundamentally different era, there are no answers. As things stand, the parliamentary majority will once again pile together in 2027 for the nth time and retain power - Musić stressed.

He also stated that the „babbling“ of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić about Montenegro should be understood only for what it is - desperation.

- His deep state is counting on Mandić in the long run, while Vučić himself is dealing with yet another explosion of mafia-style affairs in his own living room, and he needs every possible topic - from sparrows on a branch to Montenegro, simply so people won’t talk about his grotesque reality - Musić concluded.
