A unique „window of opportunity“ lies ahead of Montenegro, requiring decisive action and the acceleration of reform processes - this was assessed at a meeting between the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović and the German Minister for Europe and one of the more influential members of the ruling CDU Gunther Krichbaum.

As stated in the press release, Milatović has begun intensive diplomatic activity in Berlin, where through meetings with high-ranking German officials and members of the Bundestag he will further strengthen international support for Montenegro’s European perspective.

The focus of the meeting between Milatović and Krichbaum, as specified, was on accelerating the accession process and strengthening political support within the European Union.

- It was particularly emphasized that membership in the European Union is not an automatic process, but the result of concrete and measurable reforms, primarily in the area of the rule of law. Strengthening the independence of the judiciary and institutions has been recognized as a key prerequisite for further progress and building trust - the statement said.

Milatović emphasized Montenegro’s full commitment to implementing reforms, with the message that now is the moment for concrete steps so that the country can take advantage of the favorable political momentum and become a full member of the European Union.
