At today’s session, the Government of Montenegro adopted a decision to temporarily suspend the recognition of diplomas obtained at Megatrend University in Serbia for employment purposes, the Government told the ETV Portal.

As announced by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, which submitted this proposal to the Government, the decision also applies to the faculties within Megatrend University: the Faculty of Culture and Media, the Faculty of Business Studies, the Faculty of Arts and Design, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Geo-Economics.

- The suspension will remain in force until the necessary information is obtained from the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia, after which a decision will be made on its further duration - the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation stated.

At the end of November, the Serbian Ministry of Education adopted a decision revoking the operating licenses of Megatrend University and its constituent faculties, namely the Faculty of Culture and Media, the Faculty of Business Studies, the Faculty of Arts and Design, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Geo-Economics.

As stated, the reason for such a decision is the fact that one year has passed since the finality of the decisions of dismissing the applications for accreditation of these higher education institutions, as they failed to submit applications for accreditation of the institution and study programs no later than one year before the expiry of the valid accreditation, and their previously valid accreditation had expired.

The Ministry led by Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović stated that today’s decision clearly demonstrates their continued consistency in applying regulations, as well as in taking measures aimed at protecting Montenegro’s education system and labor market from the influence of illegal educational certificates.

Recently, Montenegrin lawyer Veselin Radulović also submitted an addendum to a criminal complaint to the Special State Prosecutor’s Office against Democratic Party official Boris Bogdanović and several unidentified individuals from Megatrend University in Belgrade, on reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of forming a criminal organization and document forgery over an extended period.

Radulović expects the Special State Prosecutor’s Office to determine where and in what manner Bogdanović obtained his diploma and for what reasons he has concealed this information for years, as well as to initiate a financial investigation to uncover any material gain obtained through the commission of criminal offenses.
