Piperović: All witnesses confirmed there is nothing in the case against Lazović, Katnić, and Čađenović

Defense attorney for former senior police official Zoran Lazović, lawyer Zoran Piperović, said outside the High Court that the police officers questioned today in the proceedings against his client, retired chief special prosecutor Milivoje Katnić, and suspended prosecutor Saša Čađenović confirmed, just like previously heard witnesses, that there is nothing in this case.
- All the police officers questioned say there is nothing here. I repeat it so often that I’m becoming boring even to myself - Piperović said.
According to the lawyer, witness Dragoljub Peković, who was heard today, as well as his former colleague Boris Anđušić, who testified at the previous hearing, best revealed how a third member was added to the alleged criminal organization.
Piperović said he had intended today to request the lifting of Lazović’s detention, but after consulting with colleagues - lawyers Stefan Jovanović and Nikola Martinović - they decided to submit that request after the questioning of police officer Backović.
Piperović pointed out that it was interesting at the end of the hearing when Judge Veljko Radovanović announced that architect Aleksandar Petrović would be heard via video link on June 5, after which prosecutor Miloš Šoškić submitted to the panel an order to conduct an investigation, which also includes Zoran Lazović.
- That’s why I remarked to the judge that once they see that order, it will be clear to them why this indictment is pointless, and why that order, covering Ivanović, Lazović, Mijajlović, and Kovačević, is even more pointless and shows the complete lack of substance in both documents - Piperović said.
