The Higher State Prosecutor’s Office told Television E that an investigation is underway into the triple murder at the „Češka Zbrojevka“ shooting range in Danilovgrad, and that the toxicology report for Russian national Mikhail Nikolayevich Shabunin (30), who is suspected of the crime, has not yet been completed.

On August 31, Shabunin killed Podgorica residents Petar Globarević (24) and Nemanja Kapor (20), as well as Momir Radonjić (67), a resident of Danilovgrad, at the shooting range in Danilovgrad. He was found and located in the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, in a forest above the Topla neighbourhood in Herceg Novi, where he opened fire on police officers before taking his own life.

During the crime scene investigation, Herceg Novi police officers found and seized two handguns and more than 230 rounds of ammunition, which are suspected to have been stolen by the suspect from the shooting range in Danilovgrad, as well as a mobile phone, tablets and other items.

The Higher State Prosecutor's Office told Television E that, during the investigation so far, following the crime scene examination, orders have been issued for a number of expert examinations.

- An autopsy of the victims’ bodies has also been ordered. The toxicology report for M. N. Š. has not yet been completed – they said in its response.

According to the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, checks are also underway to determine whether the suspect had a criminal record in his home country, as well as the reasons for his stay in Montenegro, his entries into the country and his movements within Montenegro.

- These facts and circumstances are still being actively established through the competent authorities and international legal assistance, and at this stage of the proceedings we cannot provide any further details - they said.

The prosecution has also initiated an inspection to determine whether the „Češka Zbrojevka“ shooting range operated in accordance with the law, including the conditions under which weapons were issued and used, as well as its security procedures, in order to establish all relevant facts concerning the operation of the facility.

- Following this, other investigative measures may also be undertaken in that regard – they said.
