The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the evacuation of Montenegrin citizens from Catania has been successfully completed and that they arrived safely in Montenegro early this morning.
A total of 36 passengers arrived in Montenegro, including 33 Montenegrin citizens and three Serbian citizens.
Upon their arrival in Podgorica, the passengers were met at the Bus Station by a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue, within the scope of its responsibilities, to take timely action and provide support to our citizens whenever they find themselves abroad in emergency or unforeseen circumstances, with the aim of facilitating and, whenever possible, enabling their safe return to Montenegro - the Ministry said.
Montenegrin citizens had been left strande in Catania after the eruption of Mount Etna caused chaos in air traffic across Sicily.
