President of the Assembly of the Capital City, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, resigned from that position today.

As reported by Vijesti, she announced the decision during a press conference held in the city parliament hall.

Borovinić Bojović stated that it was an extraordinary press conference.

- As the public is aware, a new governing situation has emerged within the Assembly… The new situation has not been formally finalized, and no new agreements have been reached - Borovinić Bojović said, adding that this had led to forms of conduct in which party tactics affected the work of the parliament.

She said she was certain that, through this democratic act, she was creating space for matters to become further clarified.

- Any outcome must not only be in line with the new circumstances, but also in the spirit of the electoral will expressed by citizens in 2024 - Borovinić Bojović stated.

She added that everyone who had worked with her could confirm that there was no room for manipulation in her approach, emphasizing that she was proud of the results achieved by the current administration.

Mitar Paunović, a councilor from Democratic Montenegro, answered negatively when asked whether there would be a meeting of the heads of councilor clubs.

As a result, the session that had been scheduled for tomorrow will also not be held.

Jelena Milošević, a councilor from the New Serbian Democracy, said that „we are witnessing the circus that has been taking place in the recent period“.

She also stated that they would not allow the return of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).

In her opinion, the model of imposed administration would, at this moment, be inappropriate.

The head of the councilors’ club of the Europe Now Movement, Anđela Mićović, said there would be no standstill in the Capital City administration.

She supported Borovinić Bojović’s decision.

- In the coming period, we will see whether the opposition, together with its former partner (Democratic People's Party), will secure a new President of the Assembly - Mićović said.
