The Mayor of Podgorica Saša Mujović said that he congratulates the leader of the Democratic People’s Party Milan Knežević on his retirement from politics, wishing him good health in his retirement years.

- Montenegro has always admired heroes and heroism, but has also, with the greatest suspicion, regarded those who act against its interests and for the sake of enjoying favor from the rulers of other states. I will adhere to that principle and avoid any response to Mr. Knežević. I congratulate him on his retirement from politics and wish him good health in his retirement years - Mujović stated.

Appearing on Prva Television, Knežević said that the DPP councilors’ caucus in Podgorica would act as the opposition. He added that Mujović, if he stands by his word, should submit his resignation today.

- I also call on him to do so. He is no longer the Mayor of Podgorica. Whether we will call into question the quorum or initiate activities aimed at shortening the mandate of the Assembly is something we will jointly analyze and assess. But at this moment, Saša Mujović cannot be mayor without the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) - the DPP leader said yesterday.

He asked the other parties that have remained aligned with Mujović whether they would accept having the Democratic Party of Socialists provide them with a quorum.

- To vote together with them on decisions concerning the executive authority in the capital? Mujović defended the DPS and Ivan Vuković project most vigorously by insisting on a highly corrupt contract, which is now reaching its climax in the form of a sealed construction site. This means that the building permit was issued unlawfully, and therefore someone within the Ministry of Urbanism and Spatial Planning should be held accountable - Knežević added.

He stressed that Mujović and the director of Podgorica’s Water Supply company Aleksandar Nišavić should also be held accountable, because „by force, with the involvement of 680 police officers, the arrest of an entire village took place“.
