The out-of-trial panel of the Basic Court in Podgorica extended the detention of Danilo Mandić on January 23 - as confirmed to Portal ETV by independent public relations adviser at the Basic Court Nađa Pešić.

Mandić is charged with a serious offense against public safety, causing minor bodily injury, and illegal possession of weapons and explosive materials.

Danilo Mandić is the nephew of the President of Parliament Andrija Mandić.

Mandić served as his uncle Andrija Mandić’s private - illegal - security.

The accused is suspected of having, on April 19 at around 3:40 a.m., while driving a parliamentary jeep, a „Range Rover“, blocked the path of Podgorica residents Darko Perović and Aris Turković near the intersection of Marka Miljanova Street and Ivan Crnojević Boulevard. After that, Mandić allegedly fired several shots at them, during which Perović was wounded.

The investigation against Mandić was initially conducted by the Higher State Prosecutor’s Office, but after assessing the evidence, it determined that the case falls under the jurisdiction of the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office.

Meanwhile, the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office opened a case regarding the misuse of a vehicle belonging to the highest legislative body. After the investigation was completed, an indictment proposal was filed against Danilo Mandić on suspicion that he stole an official parliamentary vehicle.
